June saw the end of the Polo Clubs first year as a fully formed club, not only did we send two teams to compete in the National arena and grass Universities Polo tournament but we also managed to win the intermediate subsidiary final. The year started with the club mainly comprising of beginners who by June had progressed to competent players with a good understanding of the game.
The highlight of June was the SUPA outdoor tournament. We were represented in the beginner and intermediate sections, with both teams showing marked improvement from the February tournament. In the beginner's section, all but Captain Tristram Van Lawick were playing in their first ever polo match. The whole team played really well and Tristram finished off his time at St Andrews with a couple of good goals in the final match. The intermediate team played really well to win the subsidiary final, with club Captain Rob Morrison charging around on Percy to score a hat trick in the final.
Hopefully we can build on this next year and have even more teams representing St Andrews
