Purchasing
kit can be expensive and we have tried to comply a list to help you make some
choices on what to buy.
1.
Polo stick, 51” or 52” depending on preference graphite (£50+) is
better for grass polo and practising while a good bamboo stick is more expensive
but can be better to play with.
2.
Kneepads, especially in arena polo, a must if you want to avoid bruised
and painful knees. (£50+)
3.
Polo Helmet, the only added benefit of a polo helmet (£100+) is the
ability to attach a face mask (£50) but protective glasses do just as well and
jockey skullcaps offer more protection.
4.
Gloves, either one or two depends again on preference but good for the
beginner if you want to avoid blisters.
These
are the most basic items and there are a whole host of extras,

White jeans, these can be picked up in charity shops or if your coming
from the states they sell them cheaply there.
6.
Polo boots, these are VERY expensive prices start around (£190) don’t
bother buying them until you are 100% sure you intent to continue playing, long
black boots or half chaps are fine.
7.
Polo Whip, the same as any long schooling whip, can be bought cheaply in
local tack shops try and find one with a loop attached to the hand end.
8.
Spurs are used in Polo however we do not wear them on ANY of the ponies
we use.

Bike Polo stick, this could be useful but we do have old ones to use.
